Finishes on the Podium at Final Round at Crandon
Plymouth, WI (September 11, 2009) - After a Trying Season, John Mason and
his #1 Mendeola Transaxles, Phil’s Inc. Goodyear Tires Honda powered Super
Buggy were looking forward to Crandon as the team has had many successes
at the legendary track. The reigning Super Buggy Champion and former World
Champion knew it would be important to finish on a high note.
The largest Super Buggy field of the year, was loaded with talent from all
across the country. Needless to say, the field was stacked. The final two
rounds of racing of the Super Buggy Championship was a true shootout.
Round 9 saw the #1 Mendeola Super Buggy battle through the field to take
was hard fought fourth place.

Round 10 saw
John charge quickly to into the top-5 before the mandatory caution. When
the field went green John really applied all the Honda power to the
Goodyear tires, making two more passes, to land on the podium for the
fourth time this year. The finishing order was Fortin, 1st, S. Krieman
2nd, and John Mason in third.
Afterwards John Mason commented about the 2009 season, “To finish sixth
overall in the championship is amazing considering we lost two engines the
first weekend of the year and never took the green flag. We fought
steering issues most of the year, slowing our race pace. It feels good to
land on the podium our final time in Crandon, I have to thank all my
supporters, my Dad, My wife and family, our friends that come out to give
us hand, and of course all the companies that have made our program
possible Especially, Mendeola Transaxles, King Shocks, Phil’s Inc., JL
French, Hytech Exhaust, Energy Dynamics, Speed Performance Research,
Peterson Fluid Systems, KCHilites, AMSOIL, RacerX, Yeager Oil, and
Rhinelander Honda.”
The 2010 season for Mason Motorsports is unknown as John sold the Super
Buggy to a fellow racer from Canada.

Mason Has
Mechanical Difficulties @ Bark River II
-
-
Plymouth, WI
(August 14, 2009) - After a solid performance in Oshkosh, including a
win, John and David Mason figured their bad luck was behind them.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case during the second visit to Bark
River, as mechanical gremlins took its toll on the #1 Mendeola Transaxle
Phil's Inc. King Shocks Goodyear Super Buggy.

Saturday's
Round 7 saw steering issues plague the red and black Honda powered Buggy
from challenging for a podium spot. At the finish, John Mason finished
fourth.

Afterwards the
team found to broken bolts and quickly fixed the problem.

On Sunday,
after a couple of solid laps, engine issues slowed the 2008 Championship
buggy, demoting the team to an eighth place finish. "We are still
having issues with our power steering," noted John Mason. "We thought we
had the problem fixed earlier in the year, but obviously we have to
approach the solution another way. We also have to cure our engine woes
as well. We will be at 100% when we get to Crandon. It would be cool to
get another World Championship ring."

Motorsports Wins Oshkosh Round 6
Plymouth, WI (July 27, 2009) - After mechanical issues created a slow
start for the Mason Motorsports #1 Mendeola Transaxles Phil’s Inc. King
Shocks Goodyear Super Buggy, the Bark River weekend was a great rebound
performance for John Mason. Now could the black Super Buggy keep his move
up in the championship standings going at the Oshkosh Speedzone?
The .7mile track created inside and on the high banked half mile clay oval
at the Speedzone, was a combination high speed jumps with a very long
rhythm section that really put the fourteen Super Buggy drivers to the
test.
Friday – Round 5
The start had John starting at the back of the pack. When the racing
began, the black Honda powered buggy quickly moved into third place by the
second lap. Quickly, the battle of second between John and #2 Tim Lemons,
was the focus of all the fans in the stands.
On lap five, the King Shocks gave John a great run through the rhythm
section, as Goodyear tires put all the Honda power to use around the dirt
oval to move up on Lemons but could not make the pass for second. When the
checkered flag came out Scott Schwalbe took the win with Tim Lemons,
second, and John Mason, third.
Saturday - Round 6
Similar to Friday night, John worked his way through the field from his
back of the back spot on the starting grid. When the mandatory yellow came
out, the #1 Mendeola Transaxle Phil’s Inc. King Shock Goodyear Super Buggy
was right behind the leader, #29 Schwalbe.
When green flag racing resumed, the Super Buggy field charged into the
first turn with John Mason in the lead. The #1 Super Buggy quickly opened
up a sizable lead. Then with two laps to go, John lost first gear, and it
allowed Schwalbe to close gap considerably, on the 2008 Class Champion. As
the two lead Super Buggies came out of the final turn and down the front
straight, John Mason was able to fend off Schwalbe to take his first
victory of the season.
“Feels
good to get that first win of the year,” remarked John Mason. “Friday
night the Mendeola Super Buggy had a power steering and carburetion
issue that slowed our pace somewhat. We fixed it for tonight and things
were going real good, when first gear disappeared with a few laps to go.
This tight track uses first gear more than any other place we race, and
with all the great drivers in the class, I just really abused it this
weekend.”
The next
race for Mason Motorsports is August 8-9, in Bark River, Michigan.
Mason Motorsports would like to thank all their supporters including:
Mendeola Transaxles, King Shocks, Phil’s Inc., JL French, Hytech Exhaust,
